TOY BREEDS

Chihuahua

This is a breed that comes in many different colors, sizes and personalities. Their coat will vary too as some are short haired and others are long haired.  Because of the size of the dog, it does not require a large yard for exercise. This is not a dog for small children because these dogs are so small and delicate. This breed is susceptible to drastic climate changes. This is why they should always live in the house. This breed will also live longer than most of the larger breeds.

Miniature Pinscher

This is a breed that is sometimes called the “ KING OF TOYS” because at times, they think they are the size of a Mastiff. But they need an owner that understands, and will teach them that they are not. One moment you will find this breed to be high energy, and the next moment you will find it curled up sleeping on your lap. This is a breed that should not be around toddlers, nor should it ever be left alone with a child.– Kellie Bell

Yorkshire Terrier

This is a breed that can be good with people of all ages, but they do require some socialization time on behalf of the family. If you have kids, as with any toy breed, please make sure you teach them the proper and safe way to handle a toy breed. As for their coat, they do not require near the maintenance of a Shi Tzu or Maltese. – Patty Andrews, Email:

SPAYING OR NEUTERING

If you are not a professional breeder, it is essential that your dog be spayed or neutered as soon as possible. When should your dog be spayed or neutered? That is a decision that is based on two things. The specific breed, and the reccomendation of the veterinarian that knows your specific dog.
